English abstract

English title:A collaborative music video process as an equality producing thirdspace: an a/r/tographic primary school project

This article is about a creative process in primary school that resulted in the creation of the music video “We are looking forward to tomorrow” which was released on June 5th, 2019. The analytical question investigated is: How can an aesthetic educational design project in primary school be understood as a thirdspace that contributes towards equality in a school environment? John Dewey’s perspective on experience and Homi Bhabha’s decolonization perspective are central theories in the creation of the aesthetic educational design project and this article. The project and analysis are designed and understood as performative research. Four employees at a primary school took on an a/r/tographic position, as artist, researcher and teacher, and through the various positions, they developed an aesthetic educational design that has developed through practice over 9 months. Based on a neonarrative analytic method, they wrote 6 process stories about their experiences during the project. The process narratives speak back to the analytical question in a narrative form. One of the answers to the analytical question is to see Bhabha’s thirdspace as an equality perspective that facilitates moments of negotiation of positions that are non-hierarchical, listening and/or non- authoritarian. In the aesthetic educational design, such negotiation moments are facilitated through an “artistic pulse” that continuously tries to unite artistic expression, inclusion, and teaching.
}, number={1}, journal={Nordisk tidsskrift for utdanning og praksis}, author={Kristoffersen, Audun Mollan and Nylund, Simon Bergeton and Sumstad, Odd Egil and Hindkjær, Christer Løkås}, year={2022}, month={feb.}, pages={22–39} }
